The Dallas Mavericks have a 5% chance of making the playoffs,1 and thatās before factoring in the season-ending surgery for Dereck Lively II announced Wednesday.
So should they be tanking? Thatās difficult too, given Dallas has a lot of accomplished veterans, with relatively few developmental players to shove onto the floor. The franchise is caught in no manās land.
My guess is that even the Mavericksā front office, where I worked from 2019 to 2022, doesnāt exactly know what the plan should be.
But one thing seems fairly clear: Dallas should be looking to trade Anthony Davis.
